Reiki

Reiki is known to relieve pain, speed the healing process, relax the receiver, and actually give added energy. Many hospitals are now using Reiki for pain control management and have documented the reduced need for pain medication. Reiki works in harmony with all other types of treatments, whether allopathic or holistic, assisting in the healing of physical ailments.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is based on the belief that "life force energy" flows through all living things. It is a technique that promotes healing within our body. It begins with stress reduction and relaxation, allowing this "life force energy" to flow freely through us causing an improvement in our health and quality of life. This "life force energy" is the same as "Chi" in Chinese or "Prana" in Sanskrit.

If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick, feel stress, or have increased pain levels. If it is high, we are more capable of having a healthy body that is free from pain and stress. This energetic modality has been proven to relax the muscles, slow heart rate, calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure and balance chakras. Reiki creates harmony in the body on all levels. When life force energy is blocked, illness, or disease in the body will result. Reiki is received and directed by the body going where it is needed, thus clearing energetic blockages allowing healing to take place.

Reiki is both powerful and gentle. It can never cause harm and always assists the patient whether they "perceive" they can feel it or not.

Reiki is thought to have originated as a Tibetan Buddhist practice that was rediscovered in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui from Japan. Reiki is a generic word in Japan, and is used to describe many types of healing. Dr. Ursi believed that Reiki was “the secret art of inviting happiness into the body – and the miraculous medicine of all diseases.”

Reiki energy has aided in healing all forms of disorders and illness. Reiki complements and enhances all types of medical treatment.
